Kicking The Stigma — One Program At A Time
Since 2021, our Action Grant Program has helped nonprofits in Indiana and beyond expand their mental health programming and make an impact on their local community. Each recipient dedicated their funds to one of five key focus areas, including: workforce development, equitable access, grassroots programming, anti-stigma initiatives, and youth mental health.

Agape brings people and horses together, strengthening the mind, body, and spirit through equine-assisted therapy. This grant supported the Beyond the Barn initiative to expand their operations.
This grant will support AFSP’s ‘L.E.T.S. Save Lives’ program which focuses on suicide prevention within Black communities, addressing unique cultural and social challenges that may affect mental health and access to support. In addition, the grant will also fund the “Talk Saves Lives” program which tailors suicide prevention strategies to the Latinx and Hispanic communities, considering linguistic, cultural and systemic factors.
This grant supported the hospital system’s Question-Persuade-Refer outreach, which trains people to recognize the warning signs of suicide and then question, persuade, and refer at-risk people for help.
This grant helped increase access to mental health professionals and mental wellness programming at the local Boys & Girls Club facility in Morgan County, Indiana.
Bring Change to Mind seeks to end the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental illness. This grant helped BC2M create more specialized community-based workshops and all-school assemblies.
Funds from this grant will support continued education opportunities for their full-time mental health professionals, an intern supervision program, and provide mental health interns the opportunity to gain experience in the industry.
This grant helped support the Project HOPE Fund for the Hamilton Southeastern School Corporation, which provides students in need with access to school-based mental health services.
HVAF houses and supports veterans and their families, helping those at-risk of homelessness achieve a better quality of life. This grant helped fund their therapy services, including a full-time licensed mental health clinician.
This grant helped increase equitable access to culturally competent mental health services, addressing the stigma around mental health in the Black community through intentional education and outreach.
NAMI Greater Indianapolis is a grassroots organization that works with NAMI Indiana and NAMI National to improve the lives of families affected by mental illness through education, support, and advocacy.
Overdose Lifeline helps individuals, families, and communities affected by addiction and substance use disorder through advocacy, education, harm reduction, prevention, resources, and support.
Project Healthy Minds is a millennial-driven organization that builds multi-platform anti-stigma campaigns and offers a free, one-stop digital referral platform to expand access to care and make it easier to get help.
This grant funded certified peer recovery coaches to help incarcerated and previously incarcerated individuals on their journey to recovery from substance use disorders, helping them lead productive lives.
This grant funded Riley’s Be Happy program, which aims to improve access to best practice pediatric behavioral health care by supporting health care providers with guidance from psychiatric specialists.
This grant supported Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) programming for First Responders in Tippecanoe County, giving them access to licensed psychologists and compassionate peer support.
A Kid Again fosters hope, happiness, and healing for families raising kids with life-threatening conditions. This grant helped fund their Holiday Balance Box, which focuses on mental health support.
Brightlane’s mission is to transform the lives of students impacted by homelessness with academic support. This grant helped train volunteers in social-emotional learning and trauma-informed care.
Funds from this grant will offset individual therapy costs for the Health & Wellness Program which offers culturally responsive programming to domestic abuse survivors that provides them with the tools and support they need to reach their physical, mental, emotional and relational health goals.

HCCC is a coalition of community leaders looking to address local health issues. This grant supported their “Stepping on Stigma” campaign to raise awareness and reduce the stigma around mental health.
The Center works to prevent child sexual abuse and suicide by empowering communities with the knowledge to stop these tragedies. This grant supported their evidence-based programming.
IYG creates safer spaces to foster community and provides programming that magnifies the voices of LGBTQ+ youth. This grant supported IYG’s mental health counseling program, Help Us Grow Stronger.
MHAI works collaboratively with a variety of organizations to help promote prevention, early identification, and intervention for those at risk of mental illness and substance use. Their programs focus on expanding behavioral health care with recovery as a goal.
Oaklawn provides mental health and addiction treatment for children and adults in Elkhart and St. Joseph Counties. Their services range from skills training and case management to outpatient therapy and inpatient care.
PSI-IN promotes awareness, prevention and treatment of mental health issues related to childbearing. This grant supported its High-Risk Training Initiative for Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorder.
This grant funded the Hope Squad Suicide Prevention Initiative aimed at reducing the stigma surrounding mental health and enhancing the peer-to-peer connections that prevent suicide.
Reach for Youth’s mission is to provide second chances for youth offenders through intervention and counseling. This grant was used to reduce financial barriers for families and help RFY recruit mental health professionals.
Recovery Café of Muncie supports development of the mind, body, and spirit of those desiring recovery. This grant funded an expansion of its peer-to-peer programming, including Peer Recovery Coaches.
Step-Up provides HIV care and resources with dignity and inclusivity. This grant supported its Re-Entry Program, providing mental health counseling and ongoing support within the criminal justice system.
The Center transforms lives through professional counseling and education. This grant helped fund direct client services and provide financial assistance to those seeking mental health counseling.
This grant supported the creation of a “reset room” for the students, as part of the Indianapolis charter school network’s Enhanced Behavioral Health Services.
This grant funded NOVA Crisis Response Team Trainers and NOVA Crisis Response Team Training for staff at the eastside Indianapolis school district.
This grant will help provide mental health support through occupational therapy interventions and enhanced by trauma-informed care training, to children with disabilities who experience, or are at risk of experiencing, mental health disorders.
